Creative Heart Healing
I'm Di Frost and my message to the world is that healing from childhood trauma is possible. I am living proof of that.
As a psychologist and a survivor I am in the unique position of understanding the science behind the impact of trauma on the developing brain and, from my own life experience, what it takes to heal from childhood trauma.
I have established Creative Heart Healing as a base to support other survivors on their healing journeys as well as providing up to date information and trauma training for carers, counsellors and therapists.
What I provide:
- Professional development training for mental health professionals, carers, support workers and educators focussing on powerful strategies for working with survivors. This includes online training courses, and face-to-face workshops
- Healing retreats to provide survivors with a safe place, quality time and the supportive space needed for healing
- One-on-one counselling for survivors of childhood trauma, operating from the beautiful mid-north coast of NSW
Why trauma?
Survivors of childhood trauma often suffer from a range of mental health and social issues including:
- PTSD
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Addictions
- Eating disorders
- Self-harm
- Suicidality
- Relationship issues
- Bullying
- Emotional reactivity
Recovery from the impacts of complex trauma is one of the most difficult psychological, emotional and spiritual challenges a person can face. It requires a holistic approach with support from survivors' family, friends, and health professionals utilising proven strategies to rewire the brain.
My own healing journey:
For me, it was a long, slow, 7 year process of recovery from mental illness. I am still on the healing journey and I sometimes still have challenges and triggers needing attention and processing.
My aim is to utilise what I know from psychological research, evidence-based practice and my own experience to walk alongside and support others on their healing journeys towards health and wholeness.
If this book had been available to me when I first started my healing journey, it would not have taken me so long to find what works and to get back to a functional level.
I want other survivors to benefit from reading a book with enough background information to provde an understanding of the impacs of trauma, as well as providing a safe and effective process for healing.

What people say
- "I feel like from the first session I had with Di I was already reassured that I was working with someone with lived experience, so that made a huge difference to me."
Sally, Survivor
"This was the best training I have ever attended. Di is an excellent presenter. She put trauma research and neuroscience into plain English and helped me make sense of what is going on for my clients.”Anne, Caseworker
"Connecting with the inner child and then nurturing and re-parenting, and expressing the emotions the inner child had held from their youth, that whole process just blew me away how impactful and transformative it was."Paul, Survivor
- “I thoroughly recommend this training. I came away with an extraordinary number of useful strategies and ideas to help me work more effectively with my clients.”
Mike, Psychologist
"A life lived under the influence of trauma is no real life at all. It’s a life of escape and avoidance. To come and confront the trauma, when you see it, it’s not as scary as you think, and you get this renewed energy that you didn’t know you had."Sam, Survivor
"I have a pathway now. I’ve always felt so powerless when I have a trauma episode or when I’ve had a setback that makes me feel like everything’s falling apart. I now understand where that’s coming from, why that’s coming up and how to then respond to it."Harrison, Survivor
- "Many of our students have experienced adversity and trauma. We see it in the classroom and playground in their reactive behaviours. Staff sometimes struggle with this, and burnout is a real possibility. This workshop is a must for school staff. It provides insight as to why students behave the way they do and how we can help them.”
Pam, School Principal
“Di ensured the emotional safety of the retreat participants and led us through a gentle step-by-step method to process traumatic experiences. It made such a difference in my life and I feel hopeful for the future for the first time in ages.”Cathy, Survivor
"I both learned a great deal from your course about trauma and also found the teaching methodology very engaging... I deeply appreciated and valued your course in how it did not presume knowledge but instead started with the fundamentals around trauma and developed the student's knowledge as we progressed through the modules. It provided a holistic understanding of trauma and the diverse and complex consequences it has for many people."Kimberley, Social Worker
